The Living Gospel (Week 2: Connecting Your Chapter to His Book)
Opening Prayer
Lord, illuminate Your Word to us. Help us to find those specific truths that feel like they were written just for our story.
Today’s Scripture (NLT)
Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”
As we connect our story to God’s story, it can be incredibly powerful to identify specific Bible verses that act as signposts along our journey. These “life verses” become anchors for our testimony, grounding our personal experience in the objective truth of God’s Word.
God’s Word is a lamp for our next step and a light for our entire path. As you look back on your life, you can likely see moments where a specific scripture was the lamp that got you through a dark time, or the light that guided a major decision. Was there a verse that was instrumental in your conversion? A promise you clung to during a trial? A command that has shaped your life?
Weaving these scriptures into your testimony does two things. First, it adds authority and power to your story, showing that your experience is consistent with God’s revealed truth. Second, it gives the person listening something concrete to hold onto long after your conversation is over. It points them not just to your experience, but to the eternal Word of God.
Disciples’ Life Tip: Take some time to think through your faith journey. Can you identify one or two key Bible verses that have been especially meaningful or defining for you? Write them down and consider how they connect to the different parts of your story.
Closing Prayer: Father, thank You for Your Word, our lamp and our light. Help me to so saturate my story with Your truth that people are drawn not to me, but to the power and beauty of Your Scripture. Amen.
