Good morning fellow disciples.
This week we will be looking at the theme, God’s Purpose for My Life.
Purpose is defined as “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.”
We were created by Almighty God In His image for His purpose. The question we will be asking this week is what is God’s purpose for my life? What is the reason why I was created by God, and what is the reason why I exist? Today we will look at some scriptures that will show us that God does have a plan for our lives, and that we were made for a purpose.
We were originally made to fellowship with God and to take care of His creation, however because of sin our fellowship with God was interrupted. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice which redeemed us from the bondage to sin, we now have the chance to live out what God had purposed for us.
God’s purpose for us can be found in His Holy Scriptures. We all have a common purpose. We are also anointed and appointed for some specific tasks which His Holy Spirit will teach us about. This week, however, we will be looking at what scripture says is our common purpose.
For I know the plans I have for you” — this is the Lord’s declaration — “plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 HCSB
1. God has plans for us!
Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 HCSB
2. God wants you to change from sinful thinking so that you can discern His will for your life.
For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose. Philippians 2:13 HCSB
3. God works in you so that you can desire His purpose and live out that purpose.
For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 HCSB
4. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior we can walk in God’s Purpose for our lives.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 HCSB
5. We are commanded to make disciples for the kingdom of God.
Prayer: Father God I know that You have plans for my life. God, You want me to change from sinful thinking so that I can discern Your will for my life. God, please work in me so that I can desire Your purpose for my life and so that I can live out that purpose.
Jesus Christ, I accept You as my Lord and savior. Help me to walk in God’s purpose for my life. I will make disciples for the kingdom of God and I will continually walk in obedience to Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
