Fighting From Victory, Not For It

September 22, 2025

By Andrew Williams

Opening Prayer:
Father, thank you for the definitive victory secured by Jesus. Help us to stand firm in the truth that we are more than conquerors in Him.

Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 6:11a(NLT)
“Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.”

When we think of a battle, we usually think of a desperate, uphill climb—a fight for a win. But the entire posture of spiritual warfare for the believer is different. Notice the key command in this verse: “stand firm.” We are not told to scramble for a defense or rush toward an uncertain victory. We are commanded to hold our ground from a position of power.

This is the most crucial foundation for this week’s teaching: the victory has already been secured by Jesus Christ on the cross. Colossians 2:15 tells us that Jesus disarmed and triumphed over the enemy publicly. The war is won; we are simply fighting the remaining battles until the King returns.

If you are fighting for victory, you are fighting in fear and inadequacy, relying on your own strength. If you are fighting from victory, you are fighting in confidence, relying solely on Christ’s finished work. When you understand that you are already on the winning side, the nature of the fight changes. You stop fighting to earn God’s favor and start fighting out of the authority He has already given you.

Disciple’s Life Tip:
Today, reject the thought that you have to earn your victory. When fear or temptation arises, immediately declare: “The battle is Christ’s, and the victory is mine. I will stand firm.”

Closing Prayer: Go into this week remembering you are not a desperate fighter, but a victorious warrior standing in Christ’s strength. Amen.
