But he must ask in faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1:6-8 BSB
Good morning, fellow disciples.
These verses in James chapter 1 tells us that we must ask in faith. However, we all know that we don’t always get answers to our questions immediately. What do you do in the time that you’re waiting for your answers?
Wait is defined as: “to remain stationary in readiness or expectation.”
Do you remain stationary in readiness and expectation that God will do what you ask?
Do you begin to doubt because your answer does not come immediately?
Do you start entertaining other points of view instead of remaining focused on your belief and faith in God?
James reminds us that if we doubt, we will not receive what we ask for. So many times, God tests us by delaying the answers to our prayers. He wants to see if we will remain faithful, and full of faith in our time of waiting.
How good are you at waiting in faith?
Prayer: Father God, I must admit that whenever I ask for something in prayer, I am full of faith. However, when I don’t hear You answer, my thoughts tend to go all over the place. I begin to waiver, and I begin to wonder if You will really answer my prayers.
This gets more pronounced the longer the time period between prayer and the expected answer. As the years have passed, I have remained in faith for longer periods of time, but still yet I waiver at times. Forgive me Lord for my double mindedness and help me to redirect my focus to You and Your Word. I know that you are faithful to answer all my prayers. Help me to wait in faith. Amen.
