Exorcise

By Andrew Williams – June 29,2021

Scripture : ‘Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists attempted to pronounce the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I command you by the Jesus that Paul preaches! ” Acts 19:13 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

This verse tells the story of some Jewish persons who went about from town to town expelling demons or evil spirit from persons or the territory. We don’t know how they used to do it before, we don’t know if they were successful before, or if they always used the name of Jesus, but what we do know is that they went about from town to town casting out evil spirits.

On this day they met up on some evil spirits who would not listen to them and as the next few verses show, those evil spirits beat them up. We know that when Paul commanded evil spirits by Jesus’ name to go , they would leave. We know that there is power in the name of Jesus. We also know that Jesus said that in his name we would cast out evil spirits.

What these guys did not realize is that they needed to have relationship with Christ before they were able to exorcise these demons in his name. Jesus did say, “those who believe and are baptized, in my name they will cast out demons”.

These demons realized that these men did not have the right relationship with Christ and as such they had no authority to cast them out in Jesus’ name. Do you want to perform exploits in Jesus name? If you do then you need to have the right relationship with him, so that you can use His authority and His power to perform these exploits.

Prayer : Father God I want to be used by you, I want to help people by using the name of Jesus. I know that I can’t do this by having a second hand relationship with you, so Father God I submit and surrender to you as Lord of My Life, I accept Jesus Christ as my savior and King. I believe in Jesus and I ask you to baptize me with Your Holy Spirit. Use me Lord as You choose to bring Deliverance to Your people, this I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
