“Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me.” – Galatians 2:1 (ESV)
Good morning fellow disciples.
Galatians 2:1 offers a brief but significant glimpse into the enduring partnership between Paul and Barnabas. In recounting his history as an apostle, Paul mentions that “after fourteen years” he went up again to Jerusalem “with Barnabas,” also taking Titus along. This simple statement underscores the strength and longevity of their relationship, emphasizing Barnabas’ consistent support and companionship throughout Paul’s ministry, even up to this later point in time. Many scholars believe this visit to Jerusalem is the same one described in Acts 15.
As a disciple, you are called to cultivate strong, lasting relationships with other believers. Barnabas’ example reminds you of the importance of loyalty, support, and companionship in the journey of faith. Having people in your life who understand and encourage you can push you to higher levels of commitment. You are empowered to be a faithful friend, a trusted confidant, and a steadfast partner to those whom God has called you to walk alongside.
This week, reflect on your relationships with other believers. Are you actively investing in friendships that are based on mutual respect, trust, and a shared commitment to Christ? Reach out to a friend who may need your encouragement or support. Let them know that you are there for them and that you value their presence in your life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to cultivate strong, lasting relationships with other believers. Give me the wisdom to be a faithful friend, a trusted confidant, and a steadfast partner to those whom You have called me to walk alongside. May my life be a reflection of Your love, Your grace, and Your desire for unity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
