For you were not being honest when you sent me to pray to the Lord your God for you. You said, ‘Just tell us what the Lord our God says, and we will do it!’
Jeremiah 42:20 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Do you ever get tired of praying on behalf of persons who keep on sinning against God?
You know the type! You can see and sense them coming from a mile away. You know their track record, and you start shuddering when you see them coming. You may be thinking: “ Oh God, here they come again! Do You really want me to intercede on their behalf?”
Intercede: to intervene between parties with a view to reconciling differences; to mediate; to plead on someone else’s behalf; or to intervene on behalf of another.
There you have it. You are doing it on their behalf.
Let us remember that sometimes they are ignorant, sometimes they really want to change, and sometimes they are just straight up using you. No matter their motive, as a Kingdom citizen representing our Lord Jesus who lives forever to intercede, we should also intercede.
Like Jeremiah, we can also get frustrated when we continually intercede on behalf of persons who never change. Like Jeremiah did, we need to intercede and tell them exactly what God says.
Here’s what God said to the people through Jeremiah:
And today I have told you exactly what he said, but you will not obey the Lord your God any better now than you have in the past. So you can be sure that you will die from war, famine, and disease in Egypt, where you insist on going.” Jeremiah 42:21-22 NLT
Keep on interceding, even when you don’t feel like it.
Do it because God wants you to!
Tell God’s truth to those who seek it!
