John 14:7 NLT – If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
Good morning, fellow disciples.
Do you know the Father?
Many of us have no real concept or revelation of who God the Father is. You might say, after all, how can we when He is up in heaven, and we have never seen Him?
Here we see Jesus telling His disciples that if they had really known Him, they would know who God the Father is. Now, this complicates the issue even more. You might also say, how can we know Father God or Jesus when they’re both up in heaven and we have never seen them?
Jesus went on to say: Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do. John 14:10-11 NLT
If you really want to know God the Father, you need to know God the Son. You know them through the Words that Jesus spoke and the miracles and actions that He did. This is recorded for us in the Bible.
Do you believe what it says about Jesus and about God?
It is our role as disciples to proclaim the Words that Jesus did and to do the works that He did. When we do so, we show persons who God the Father and God the Son are.
Are you doing that?
Prayer: Father God, one of my constant prayers is that I want to know You. Thank You for showing me the formula. I believe that Jesus and You are one, and I believe that every word that He ever spoke was from You. I believe that everything He did points to You!
I will spend more time in Your word, preaching, teaching, discipling others, and doing the works that Jesus did, so that I can get to know You even more. Amen.
