Week 3: The Prophet’s Relationship with God

Anchor Scripture: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” — Psalm 91:1 (NKJV)

The Teaching
In our journey through the Prophet’s relationship with God, we must identify their permanent residence. While a Prophet may travel the world or stand on various platforms, their true spiritual address is The Secret Place.

The Hebrew word for “secret place” is sether, which means a covering, a hiding place, or a shelter. For the Prophet, this is not a place you visit when you need a “word” for a meeting; it is the place where you live. There is a profound difference between a visitor and a dweller. A visitor comes to get something and then leaves; a dweller stays until the atmosphere of the house becomes part of their own scent.

The Prophet is called to be a “Dweller in the Secret.” This is the place where the noise of the world is silenced, and the “still, small voice” of God becomes the loudest sound. It is here that the Prophet’s character is forged and their revelation is incubated. If a Prophet spends more time in the “public place” than in the “secret place,” their message will eventually become shallow, echoes of other men’s voices rather than a fresh word from the mouth of God. Your public “fire” is a direct result of your private “dwelling.”

Prophetic Insight
The Secret Place is the filter of the Prophet. When you dwell in God’s presence, the pride of the office is stripped away. You realize that you are nothing without Him. This hiddenness protects the Prophet from the “celebrity spirit” that destroys so many gifts. In the secret place, God doesn’t just give you information for others; He gives you formation for yourself. If you ever feel dry, empty, or disconnected, it is a signal that you have moved your “address” away from the secret place. The most powerful thing a Prophet can do is stay hidden in God until He chooses to reveal them.

The Activation
Identify your physical “secret place”—a corner of a room, a chair, or a path where you can be alone with God. Today, go there with no Bible, no notebook, and no agenda. Spend 15 minutes simply “dwelling.” Resist the urge to “get a word.” Just abide in the shadow. Practice the art of being “unseen” by the world so that you can be “fully seen” by God.

Daily Prayer: Lord God, I thank You for the invitation to dwell in Your secret place. I repent for the times I have been a tourist in Your presence, only coming to You when I needed a word for others. Today, I move my spiritual address back into Your shadow. Hide me in the secret place of Your heart. Let the time I spend with You in private be the source of everything I do in public. I choose to be a dweller, not a visitor. Amen.
