Conversations at the High Priest’s House Part 8

By Andrew Williams – October 30, 2022

Then the high priest tore his garments and said, What need have we for more witnesses? [Num. 14:6.] You have heard His blasphemy. What is your decision? And they all condemned Him as being guilty and deserving of death. [Lev. 24:16.]
Mark 14:63‭-‬64 AMPC
Conversations at the High Priest’s House Part 8

Good morning fellow disciples.

Blasphemy is defined as the act of claiming the attributes of a deity.

Jesus who they believe to be a mere man had just claimed that He was God. This could only be interpreted by them as being blasphemous. This was their only interpretation because they truly did not know who Jesus was.

Based on their religious beliefs there was only one punishment. That punishment was death!

Hear what their law stated: “Whoever blasphemes the name of Yahweh is to be put to death; the whole community must stone him. If he blasphemes the Name, he is to be put to death, whether the foreign resident or the native.” Leviticus 24:16 HCSB

Jesus gave them all they needed to condemn Him to death. His death however was needed for all mankind to be set free from the devil’s oppression. His death was needed for mankind to be made righteous before God. His death was the only way for the complete salvation of mankind to come into effect.

Jesus knew that if He hadn’t told the truth about who He was they would never be able to condemn Him. He did this so that the prophecies about His death would be fulfilled.

Jesus was a willing participant in the plans of God.

Are you willing and are you participating in the plans of God for your life?

Prayer: Father God, I will tell the truth no matter what people will believe, say about me, or do to me. Amen.
