Conversations at Gethsemane – Part 9

And again He came back and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they did not know what answer to give Him. Mark 14:40 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

I can’t count the number of times that I fell asleep during family devotions or during prayer meetings at church. I have also struggled with staying awake during my early morning prayer times with God. In those early morning sessions “my eyes were heavy, and I naturally fell back asleep”.

I wanted to pray, but I just could not stay awake!

Is it the same for you?

What other areas of your lives does God instruct you to do things, but you end up not doing it for one reason or another?

Does He come to you like Jesus and find you in a position where you have not done what He said?

What do you say to Him in those situations?

Prayer: Father God, many are the tasks that You have given to us that we have not done. Many are the instructions that You have given that we have not followed. We are spiritually willing, Lord, but we are physically limited. Help us to walk in the Spirit and bring our flesh under subjection so that we can fulfill obediently all that You have said that we should do. Amen

  1. Amen,
May God help us to remember that his strength is made perfect in our weaknesses and we can do all things through His strength.

Amen. Lord strengthen us to do what we ought. Indeed the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Forgive us Father.
