Conversations at Gethsemane – Part 8

He went away again and prayed, saying the same words. Mark 14:39 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

Between 2019 and 2020 for over a year I prayed one simple prayer every single day! That prayer was for the salvation, healing and deliverance of my family members {those related to me by blood and through the Holy Spirit}. When I started praying that prayer my expectation was that within short order, I would get the answer.

However, it is now 2022 and many of them are still not saved, are still not healed, and are still not delivered from the enemy.

It took me a while to realize that that repetitive prayer was more about helping me to change than for them to change. As I continued praying that prayer I began to see who I truly was. I began to see the areas where I needed to walk out my salvation, the areas that I needed healing, and the areas where I needed to be set free from the captivity of the devil.

As time went by, I became more surrendered, submitted, and more obedient to God.

Could this be the lesson that we should be learning from Jesus as He prayed the same prayer repeatedly. It wasn’t about changing His Father’s mind. It was about Him going through this trial and coming out fully submitted, fully obedient and, fully surrendered to the will of His Father.

As you continue to pray “that prayer” that you have been praying for so many years:

1. are you surrendering more to God,

2. are you submitting more to God and,

3. have you become more obedient to His will for your life?

  1. Wow! This is very thought provoking.
As we pray though situations God prepares us to see ourselves through the eyes of Jesus and empouring us to be better Disciples.
