Conversations at Gethsemane – Part 4

And going a little farther, He fell on the ground and kept praying that if it were possible the [fatal] hour might pass from Him. Mark 14:35 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

Even when we ask for and have the support of others, when the time comes for us to pray, praying is sometimes something that we have to do alone.

Jesus brought Peter, James, and John with Him but then He went a little further by Himself to pray. Even though they were close by, this prayer was one that Jesus had to do on His own.

Have you ever felt that way?

You are with your prayer group but when it’s time to bring your request to the Lord you feel as if you are the only one praying. Some prayers can only be prayed by the ones who need the answer. The support prayers are great but only when you fall down on your knees and make your request for yourself does the answer truly come.

Many of us are great at praying for others but we neglect to pray for ourselves. Here Jesus set the example for us. Follow His example, fall on your knees and pray for yourself!

Even though Jesus kept on telling His disciples about His impending death, in this moment He did not want to die. Notice what the verse says: “He fell on the ground and kept praying that if it were possible the [fatal] hour might pass from Him.”

Jesus KEPT ON PRAYING for death not to come!

There is nothing wrong with praying the same words repeatedly.

What is it that is on your heart to pray for?

Keep on praying for it.

Prayer: Father God, save, heal, and deliver my family and fellow disciples! Father God, save, heal, and deliver my family and fellow disciples! Father God, save, heal, and deliver my family and fellow disciples! Father God, save, heal, and deliver my family and fellow disciples! FATHER GOD, SAVE, HEAL AND DELIVER MY FAMILY AND FELLOW DISCIPLES! Amen
