Conversations at Gethsemane – Part 2

And He took with Him Peter and James and John, and began to be struck with terror and amazement and deeply troubled and depressed. Mark 14:33 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

Sometimes when we need to pray while in the company of others, we feel the need to be with just a few persons that we are spiritually intimate with.

These persons are either our support group or persons who we want to help to grow in their prayer lives. The fellowship and relationship that we share in these times deepen the spiritual intimacy between all of us and God.

Do you have persons that you wish to spend time with you in prayer?

In the presence of Peter, James and John, Jesus began to be struck with terror and amazement and deeply troubled and depressed.

Jesus was struck with terror and amazement! Jesus was deeply troubled and depressed! Jesus could share this with the three disciples that He had with Him. After all, they had been some of His closest companions during His ministry. They had experienced things with Him that the other disciples had not.

Do you have prayer partners?

Can you openly share your feelings, emotions, deepest desires, or troubles with them?

Can you pray about anything in their presence?

Is your life an open book before them?

Jesus was vulnerable with these three disciples.

Are you vulnerable among your fellow disciples?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for showing us that You had a close group of disciples who You could be vulnerable with. We see Your emotional state at this time in Your life and we thank You for being open and honest with it. Help us to be transparent, vulnerable, and honest with our fellow disciples as we do life together and pray together, in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
