Conversations at Gethsemane – Part 10

And He came back a third time and said to them, Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough [of that]! The hour has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinful men (men whose way or nature is to act in opposition to God).
Mark 14:41 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

The time for the disciples to support Jesus during His time of distress had to come to an end. They slept the entire time that Jesus needed them. I believe that the fact that they were physically present was important to Jesus, even though they did not offer much more to Him.

In the time that the enemy was acting, the disciples were fast asleep. Are we as fellow disciples fast asleep when we should be awake and fighting spiritual battles?

How many times have you felt the urge to pray for someone and you decided to do something else instead?

How many times did something awful happen to the person you neglected to pray for?

How many times have you fallen asleep while praying or fell asleep without praying for someone, only to wake up to the news that they have died or something horrible has happened to their family?

God has called us to stand in support of others with prayer. Let us be faithful to that call by staying awake and praying for those whom He has placed on our hearts or who have requested prayer.

When we are asked to pray for someone, let us pray in that moment instead of delaying. Who knows, we might save a life with our prayer!
