And at once for the second time a cock crowed. And Peter remembered how Jesus said to him, Before a cock crows twice, you will utterly deny Me [disclaiming all connection with Me] three times. And having put his thought upon it [and remembering], he broke down and wept aloud and lamented.
Mark 14:72 AMPC
Good morning fellow disciples.
In the last devotional I said that while we are going through testing times we become self-absorbed and self-centered. We do not consider others and we do not even think that what we are doing is hurtful to them.
Now that Peter has remembered what Jesus said about him the night before he is filled with grief and remorse. He realized that what Jesus said had come to pass. He did deny his Lord and Master three times before the rooster crowed twice.
Now that he has thought about it he fully understands what he has done. Not only has he hurt himself but he has hurt his master by his denial. He has shamed his master and is himself ashamed of what he has done. He has lost fellowship with the only begotten son of God.
Have you ever utterly denied Christ?
Have you”backslidden”?
How did you feel when you truly recognized what you had done?
What did you do when you came to the realization that you had utterly denied Christ?
Peter broke down and wept aloud and lamented. I’m sure that you did that too. Some of you are still doing that! Remember, that’s not the end of the story.
Even before Peter denied Christ, Jesus prayed for him. Jesus has prayed for you also and even now He’s at the right hand of God making intercession for you. Don’t be too hard on yourself, God still has a plan and purpose for your life
Remember the words of Jesus to Peter {they are true for you also}: “But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Luke 22:32 HCSB
Turn back to Christ!
Redirect your focus to your Lord and Master, and having done so STRENGTHEN YOUR BROTHERS!
Good advice
Jesus will never turn his back on us, He is always saying “come, i’ll forgive”
What a God!
