Conversations Around the Fire at the High Priest’s House Part 1

By Andrew Williams

While Peter was down below in the courtyard, one of the [serving] maids of the high priest came; And when she saw Peter warming himself, she gazed intently at him and said, You were with Jesus of Nazareth too.
Mark 14:66‭-‬67 AMPC
Conversations Around the Fire at the High Priest’s House Part 1

Good morning fellow disciples.

Jesus was famous! Peter had been walking around with Him for three years. He had been seen with Jesus multiple times. He might not have remembered the persons who came to Jesus, but they remembered who they saw around Jesus. And since Peter was one of those who were closest to Jesus, people would take note of him.

In the high Priest’s courtyard a maid who probably went to see Jesus or saw Jesus in the temple or elsewhere, recognized Peter.

Have you ever been in the position where persons come up to you and talk to you as if they have seen you before but you don’t recognize them?

Sometimes when you converse with them you realize that they have seen you in the company of persons that they know.

Notice that “she gazed intently at him and said, You were with Jesus of Nazareth too.”

She made sure to look at Peter intently before she made her statement. It was only after she recognized him that she said, “You were with Jesus of Nazareth too.”

My fellow disciples, we are recognized because of who we walk with. People know us because of who we spend our lives with.

Who are you spending your life with?

Are you spending your life with disciples of Christ who are truly serving Him?

Are you spending your life with God?

Are you spending your life fellowshiping with God, reading His Word, conversing with Him and, living the life that shows that you belong to Him?
