But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
1 John 1:9 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Confess: to unburden one’s sins or the state of one’s conscience to God or to a priest.
How dirty are you? How vile are you? How wicked are you?
No matter how unclean you may be in the sight of God there can always be redemption. The apostle John says that if we confess our sins to God, God will cleanse us of our wickedness.
This promise is conditional. Even though God wants us all to be in right standing with Him and for us all to be clean, He will only do that for those of us who confess our sins to Him.
Have you confessed your sins to God? If you have, examine yourself closer to see whether there are some more sins that you need to confess. If you haven’t, now is the perfect time for you to confess your sins and to be cleansed from all unrighteousness.
Prayer: Father God, You made us to fellowship with You. You made us in Your own image. You want to have relationship with us. Even though we have sinned and fallen short of Your glory, You have made provisions for us to be made clean.
We thank You for Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for paying the price for us to be set free. Now, it is up to us to accept this freedom by confessing our sins to You.
We have sinned against You, Lord. We have not obeyed You. We have not lived the way that we should have. We give glory to ourselves instead of You.
Forgive us! Amen.
