“Then they cried to the Lord again and confessed, ‘We have sinned by turning away from the Lord and worshiping the images of Baal and Ashtoreth. But we will worship you and you alone if you will rescue us from our enemies.’
1 Samuel 12:10 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Confess: to unburden one’s sins or the state of one’s conscience to God or to a priest.
The term “idol” can have different meanings depending on the context in which it is used. Here are a few possible definitions:
1. In a religious or spiritual context, an idol is an object, image, or representation that is worshipped or venerated as a deity or as embodying a deity’s power or essence.
2. In a popular culture context, an idol can refer to a celebrity or public figure who has a large and devoted following of fans, particularly in the entertainment industry such as music, movies, or sports.
3. In a personal context, an idol can be someone who is admired, respected, or emulated for their qualities, achievements, or success.
Overall, an idol is someone or something that is greatly admired or revered by others, often with a strong emotional or psychological attachment.
Are you worshiping idols instead of worshiping God?
My fellow disciples, confess your sin of idol worshiping!
Repent, and worship God ONLY!
Prayer: Father God, there are idols in my life. I have turned from You and have worshiped them. I confess this as sin and ask You to forgive me now.
I receive Your forgiveness, and I will now begin to worship You ONLY. Amen
