Chosen, But Are We Faithful To Our Calling

By Andrew Williams – May 10, 2021

“This is what the Lord God says: I have set this Jerusalem in the center of the nations, with countries all around her. But she has rebelled against My ordinances with more wickedness than the nations, and against My statutes more than the countries that surround her. For her people have rejected My ordinances and have not walked in My statutes. Ezekiel 5:5‭-‬6 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

This passage looks at God’s chosen people who have been placed at the center of every other nation. They should be the ones who are teaching the other nations how to live for God, and showing them the life of godly people. But they have sinned! They have sinned in a manner that is worse than the nations that surround them. Even though they know God’s statutes they have rejected them.

As I look at this passage the first thought that came to me was : “have we as Christians and disciples of Christ fallen into the same pattern?” Are we in a place where we are even worse than the people that we are supposed to be leading to Christ? Are we disobeying Christ’s teachings?

These are important questions to ponder, because if we have fallen short in following God, then how can we be the light to the world? Is it a wonder that we are not reaching people for Christ, because we may not truly be in Christ, and Christ is not in us!

Prayer : Father God, you have chosen us to be the people who will continue the Lord Jesus Christ’s work here on Earth. We are to make disciples who will make other disciples. We are to live lives that are pleasing to you. HELP US LORD TO BE OBEDIENT TO YOUR EVERY COMMAND, SO THAT YOUR KINGDOM WILL ADVANCE TO FILL THIS WHOLE WORLD. Help us to be like you Lord Jesus so that the whole world will come to know You as Savior, Lord and King. Amen.
