My Identity in Christ- Chosen and Loved

By Andrew Williams

Ephesians 1:4-5 (NLT): “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In his love, he preordained us to be adopted as his children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.”

Good morning fellow disciples.

Let us open our hearts today to a truth so profound, so breathtakingly beautiful, that it can reshape our very understanding of ourselves and our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

This passage isn’t simply a pleasant theological point; it’s the bedrock of our faith, the unshakeable foundation upon which our hope rests. Notice the exquisite timing: before the creation of the world. Before time itself began, before the dawn of existence, God, in His infinite wisdom and boundless love, chose you. Not because of anything you’ve done, or will ever do, but purely out of the overflowing wellspring of His grace. This wasn’t a casual decision, a last-minute afterthought. This was a deliberate, preordained act of love, etched into the very fabric of eternity.

Think about that for a moment. The God who spoke the universe into being, who holds the stars in His hand, chose you. He saw you, not as the flawed, imperfect being you may perceive yourself to be, but as His beloved child, destined for a glorious inheritance. He saw your potential, your beauty, your inherent worth, even before you existed. He saw the masterpiece He would one day sculpt, and He chose you to be a part of it.

This understanding empowers us in ways we can scarcely comprehend. When doubt whispers insidious lies, when fear threatens to overwhelm, remember this truth: you are chosen. You are loved. Not conditionally, not based on performance, but unconditionally, eternally. This knowledge fuels our faith, strengthens our resolve, and empowers us to face any challenge with unwavering confidence. The weight of the world may press down, but the love of God, the knowledge of His unwavering choice, lifts us above it all.

Our task, then, is not to earn God’s love – that’s already been accomplished – but to respond to it. To live a life worthy of the calling He has placed upon us. Today, I challenge you to actively embrace this truth. Spend time in prayer, meditating on God’s unwavering love. Let this knowledge permeate every aspect of your life, shaping your thoughts, your words, and your actions. Seek opportunities to reflect His love to others, sharing the incredible gift of His grace with a world desperately in need.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the overwhelming truth of Your unconditional love. Thank You for choosing me, for seeing me, for loving me before the foundation of the world. Help me to live a life worthy of this incredible calling, reflecting Your love to all I encounter. Empower me to share this message of hope and grace with others, so that they too may experience the transformative power of Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
