Choosing to Share Your Faith

By Andrew Williams

“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Good morning fellow disciples.

As followers of Christ, we have been entrusted with the greatest message the world has ever known – the good news of salvation through Jesus. This command, often referred to as the Great Commission, is not just a suggestion, but a clear and unequivocal calling for all who profess faith in Christ.

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commissions His disciples (and by extension, all believers) to go and make disciples of all nations. This encompasses not only sharing the Gospel, but also teaching others to obey everything that Christ has commanded. It is a call to active participation in the work of God’s Kingdom, to be His witnesses and ambassadors in a world that desperately needs to hear the life-transforming message of the cross.

Sharing our faith can be a daunting and intimidating prospect, especially if we lack confidence or feel ill-equipped. However, Acts 1:8 reminds us that we will receive power from the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses. Our personal testimonies of God’s transformative work in our lives are powerful tools that can open doors for the Gospel and inspire others to seek the same hope and redemption we have found in Christ.

1 Peter 3:15 encourages us to “always be prepared to give an answer for the hope that is within you.” This means being intentional about nurturing our relationship with God, so that we can naturally and authentically speak of His goodness and faithfulness. It may also involve simple acts of service, kind words, or bold invitations to explore the Christian faith. As we choose to live out our faith in tangible ways, we create opportunities to point others to the saving grace of Jesus.

Choosing to share your faith is a courageous act of obedience, but it is also a great privilege. When we step out in faith to be witnesses for Christ, we join in the eternal work of God’s Kingdom and have the joy of seeing lives transformed by the power of the Gospel. Though the task may seem daunting, we can take comfort in the promise that Christ is with us always, and that the Holy Spirit will empower us to be effective ambassadors for His name.

Prayer: Father God, we thank You for the great commission You have entrusted to us, to go and make disciples of all nations. Forgive us for the times when we have shrunk back in fear or felt ill-equipped to share the hope that is within us. Fill us anew with the power of Your Holy Spirit, that we may be bold witnesses for Your truth and grace.

Help us to cultivate authentic relationships where we can naturally and confidently testify to the transformative work You have done in our lives. May our lives be a living witness to the love and redemption found in Your Son, Jesus Christ. Use us, Lord, to bring the light of Your Gospel to a world in need of Your salvation. Amen.
