“The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” (Psalm 28:7)
Good morning fellow disciples
As followers of Christ, we are often tempted to rely on our own strength and abilities to navigate the challenges of life. We convince ourselves that if we just work harder, plan better, or try harder, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way. However, the Scriptures make it clear that true strength and victory come not from our own efforts, but from our reliance on the power and provision of God.
Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” This is a call to surrender our self-reliance and instead place our full trust in the wisdom and guidance of Father God.
The apostle Paul experienced this truth firsthand. In 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, he writes, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
When we recognize our own weakness and limitations, and choose to rely solely on God’s strength, we open ourselves up to experience the transformative power of His grace. It is in our moments of greatest need and vulnerability that we are able to most clearly see God’s sufficiency and the depths of His love for us.
Choosing to rely on God means shifting our focus from self-reliance to divine dependence. It’s a daily decision to seek His guidance in every situation. As we lean into His strength, we find peace in the knowledge that we are not alone. Let us commit to trusting Him fully, allowing His power to transform our weaknesses into testimonies of His grace.
As you go through this day, remember that your strength comes from the Lord. Embrace your weaknesses, trust in His provision, and rejoice in the grace that sustains you. Choose to rely on God, and you will experience the fullness of His strength in your life.
Prayer: Father God, we come to You today acknowledging our own weakness and limitations. Forgive us for the times when we have tried to rely on our own strength rather than trusting in Yours. We surrender our self-reliance and choose instead to place our full hope and confidence in You. Fill us with Your power and grace, that we may walk in the freedom and joy that comes from resting in Your sufficiency. May our weaknesses become the very platform upon which Your strength is displayed. We give You all the glory and honor, for You alone are worthy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The Lord is our strength and song.
Amen
