Choosing to Live with Wisdom

By Andrew Williams

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6)

Good morning fellow disciples.

In a world that is increasingly complex and fast-paced, the need for wisdom has never been more crucial. As followers of Christ, we are called to navigate the challenges and decisions of life with a clear and discerning mind, grounded in the truth and guidance of God’s Word.

The Scriptures make it clear that true wisdom does not come from our own understanding or the wisdom of the world, but from the Lord Himself. Proverbs 2:1-6 encourages us to seek after wisdom as we would a hidden treasure, for it is God who grants wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. When we humbly acknowledge our need for God’s wisdom and turn to the Lord as the source, we open ourselves up to the transformative power of His guidance.

Wisdom is not merely theoretical knowledge, but the practical application of that knowledge in the decisions and choices we make. Proverbs 3:13-18 describes the blessings that come to those who find wisdom, including long life, riches, honor, and a path of peace. As we learn to rely on the Lord’s wisdom in our daily lives, we are able to navigate the complexities of life with greater clarity, discernment, and confidence.

Developing a wise and discerning mindset is an ongoing process that requires intentionality and discipline. James 1:5 reminds us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault. As we spend time in God’s Word, engage in thoughtful prayer, and seek the counsel of godly mentors, we cultivate a mindset that is increasingly shaped by the wisdom of the Lord, rather than the fleeting wisdom of the world.

Choosing to live with wisdom is not always easy, as it often requires us to make difficult choices and go against the grain of popular opinion. However, when we choose to align our lives with the wisdom that comes from God, we experience the profound benefits of His guidance and the joy of walking in His ways. May we be a people who boldly pursue the wisdom of the Lord, that our lives may bring glory to His name and bear witness to His transformative power.

Prayer: Father God, we acknowledge our deep need for Your wisdom to navigate the complexities of life. Forgive us for the times when we have relied on our own understanding or the fleeting wisdom of the world. Help us to seek after Your wisdom as we would a hidden treasure, trusting that You alone are the source of true knowledge and discernment.

Grant us the courage to apply Your wisdom in our decision-making, and the discipline to cultivate a mindset that is shaped by the truth of Your Word. May we be a people who choose to live with the wisdom that comes from You, that our lives may bring glory to Your name. Amen.
