“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Good morning fellow disciples.
As human beings, we often struggle with the concept of God’s timing. We live in a world that values instant gratification and quick results, and we can become impatient when our prayers and plans don’t seem to be lining up with the timing we had in mind. Yet, the Scriptures remind us that God’s timing is perfect, and that embracing His timing is essential for experiencing the fullness of His plan for our lives.
In Ecclesiastes 3, we read a poetic description of the different seasons and rhythms of life, reminding us that there is a time for everything under heaven. This speaks to the reality that God’s timing is not always our timing. Just as a farmer must wait patiently for the harvest, so too must we trust in God’s perfect timing as He works in our lives.
Psalm 31:14-15 declares, “But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my God.’ My times are in your hand…” This verse encourages us to let go of our own agenda and surrender our lives fully to God’s sovereign plan. When we choose to trust in His timing, we find the freedom to rest in His perfect will, rather than striving to force our own.
The apostle Peter reminds us in 2 Peter 3:8-9 that “with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” God’s perspective on time is vastly different from our own, and He is not constrained by the same limitations we face.
Embracing God’s timing means surrendering our need for control and learning to rest in His sovereign plan. It means letting go of our own agenda and trusting that He is working all things together for our good and for His glory (Romans 8:28). When we choose to do this, we open ourselves up to the profound peace and joy that come from walking in step with the perfect timing of our Heavenly Father.
So let us choose to embrace God’s timing today. Let us seek to understand His ways, even when they don’t align with our own. And may we find the courage to trust in His sovereign plan, knowing that His timing is always right, and that His purposes will ultimately prevail.
Prayer: Father God, forgive us for the times when we have grown impatient with Your timing, and have tried to force our own agenda. Help us to truly understand that Your ways are higher than our ways, and that Your timing is perfect. Give us the wisdom to discern Your will, and the faith to trust in Your sovereign plan, even when it doesn’t make sense to us.
May we find rest and peace in the knowledge that our lives are in Your hands, and that You are working all things together for our good. We surrender our need for control and choose to embrace Your perfect timing. Amen.
One day at a time sweet Jesus, that’s all i’m asking of you….Amen
