We praise our Lord and Father with it, and we curse men who are made in God’s likeness with it.
James 3:9 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Praise is defined as: the expression of respect and gratitude as an act of worship; and to glorify (a god or saint) especially by the attribution of perfections.
What do you use your tongue to do? Who does your speech glorify?
Do you use your tongue and speech to praise God, or to curse men?
Do you use your tongue to curse God and to glorify yourself or others?
We can use our tongue to bless or to curse. We choose what we want to do. Many of us choose both to glorify God with our tongue and to curse men. But this is not right!
If we are children of God, we should choose to glorify God. The only use of our tongues should be to praise God, honor God, and to speak blessings over mankind who have been made in God’s image.
Are you a child of God? What will you choose to do with your tongue today?
Prayer: Father God, I chose to praise You with my tongue. Father God, I chose to bless mankind with my speech. Amen.
