“If you decide that it’s a bad thing to worship God, then choose a god you’d rather serve—and do it today. Choose one of the gods your ancestors worshipped from the country beyond The River, or one of the gods of the Amorites, on whose land you’re now living. As for me and my family, we’ll worship God.” Joshua 24:15 MSG
Good morning fellow disciples.
Today we continue to look at some choices that were made in the Bible. To choose means: “to select freely and after consideration, to have a preference for, or to take an alternative”. The question that we always have to answer is this, ” When I am faced with a choice, what will I choose to do?”
No matter where you find yourself in life you always have to make a choice. You have to choose who you will serve as your God? This was the choice that the Israelites had to make when they entered the promised Land. There were the gods that they served in Egypt, there were the gods that were the gods of the people who inhabited the land they were going into, and there was Yahweh the God who brought them out of Egypt.
In this passage, Joshua said to them that they had to choose who they were going to serve, not only that, they were to choose TODAY who they would serve. In our world, there are many different religions, and there are many different sects or cults that we can be a part of. In addition to that, we can choose any spirit, anything, or any person as our God. So the question is, “who will you choose to serve as your God today?’
I don’t know about you but I am choosing to serve Yahweh, Jehovah God, the God of the Angel Armies, the God Who created everything. I choose Him as my God and I will make Him known to my family and friends, and disciple them into serving Him as the only true God. Today who will you choose as your God?
Prayer: Father God you are Yahweh You are the only true God and I choose You as the one that I will serve from today onwards. There’s no doubt in my mind that there is no other God but You. I surrender fully to You and submit fully to Your ways and I will serve You wholeheartedly for as long as I live.
I pray that others will come to know You as Lord, saviour, King and God. I ask You to place persons in their path to share the gospel and to disciple them. I ask you to empower them by filling them with Your Holy Spirit. I pray that they will obey You in all things and that they will also make disciples for Your kingdom. This I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
