Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. Otherwise, believe because of the works themselves. John 14:11 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Today we continue to look at some choices that were made in the Bible. To choose means: “to select freely and after consideration, to have a preference for, or to take an alternative”. The question that we always have to answer is this, ” When I am faced with a choice, what will I choose to do?”
Sometimes someone tells you something and you don’t believe it, but if they show you something then you will believe it. Where is your faith, where is your trust? Will you believe based on someone’s testimony or do you have to see the evidence first?
Jesus had spent the last three (3) years with His disciples teaching them and showing them the way of the kingdom of God. Now, just before He was about to give His life for us all, this is the conversation that occurred:
“If you know Me, you will also know My Father. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.” “Lord,” said Philip, “Show us the Father, and that’s enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time without your knowing Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on My own. The Father who lives in Me does His works. John 14:7-10 HCSB
We all realize that Jesus sometimes said some things that were hard to grasp. I would think that after getting to know Jesus for 3 years that they would begin to trust Him, and take him at His word. But the disciples kept on surprising us with questions that showed that they did not really believe Jesus at times, or they just did not understand him. Just like the disciples, we have to make a choice as to whether we believe Jesus based on his word or based on the evidence.
My question to you today is, “Will you choose to believe Jesus based on His word, or will you have to see works to believe?”
Prayer: Father God Your word is full of examples of persons who did not believe Your word, and even when You did the works they still did not believe. Some believe because of the accompanying works with signs and wonders. I admit that at times I find it difficult to believe. HELP MY UNBELIEF!
Help me to trust Your word, Lord Jesus. I choose to believe Your word! Amen.
