“This is My command: Love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
To choose means: “to select freely and after consideration, to have a preference for, or to take an alternative”. The question that we always have to answer is this, ” When I am faced with a choice, what will I choose to do?”
“This is My command: Love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12 HCSB
Jesus commanded his disciples to love one another. Can you really order someone to love someone else? Is that really possible? I believe the way that people look at this command is that it was a command to love others.
As we look closer at this command we realize that it’s not about being commanded to love someone. It was about loving someone the way that Jesus loved them.
In your family who do you believe loves you the most? If I commanded you to love someone else the way that that family member loves you, would you be able to do so? I believe that Jesus is telling His disciples to: “love the way I love you because that’s the way that you show true Love.”
As disciples, we are supposed to follow our Lord’s commands. So today I ask a question, “will you choose to love the way that Jesus loves you?”
Prayer: Father God, I choose to obey the command of the Lord Jesus Christ. I will love others the way that Jesus loves me. Help me to truly understand His love for me so that I can truly show Christ-like love to others.
Father God, help me to live daily loving others the way that Jesus commanded us to. Amen
