Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage. Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death — even to death on a cross.
Philippians 2:5-8 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Humility is defined as “the quality of having a modest or low view of one’s importance”.
Some of us believe that when we humble ourselves it is just to take on a low view of how important we are. We will readily give up some of the things that are not of great importance to us while holding on to the things that we don’t believe that we can do without.
Is this really humbling ourselves?
In Philippians 2:5-8 we see Jesus leaving everything behind to become one of us. To move from being God to becoming human is very humbling.
But Jesus took it to another level. He humbled Himself even more by giving His life as a sacrifice, so that we could have eternal life.
Have you humbled yourself before God?
If the answer is no, then humble yourself so that God will come near you.
If the answer is yes, then I ask you this question: “Can you humble yourself some more?“
What is the ultimate sacrifice that God is asking of you?
Will you have such a low view of yourself that you will willingly give everything to Him?
As we seek to be our best today and as we plan for a brighter future, let us examine ourselves and come before God with the attitude of Christ Jesus.
I leave you with the words of the apostle Peter found in 1 Peter 5:5-7 HCSB: “In the same way, you younger men, be subject to the elders. And all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your care on Him, because He cares about you.“
Have a God blessed day as you humble yourself before Almighty God!
