Then David asked Ahimelech the Hittite and Joab’s brother Abishai son of Zeruiah, “Who will go with me into the camp to Saul? ” “I’ll go with you,” answered Abishai.
1 Samuel 26:6 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Submit is defined as “to present or propose to another for review, consideration, or decision.”
In this passage David asked a question. The background is that Saul has been hunting him, and now Saul is camped close to David and his men. There is an opportunity for them to fight. David was going to take a big risk to go secretly into Saul’s camp, and he was seeking someone to go with him.
He could have ordered one of his men to do so, but David submitted to his men. He submitted instead of ordering.
How did he submit?
He presented and proposed his plan to Ahimelech the Hittite and Joab’s brother Abishai son of Zeruiah, for review, consideration, and decision.
Having heard the plan / suggestion, it was Abishai who chose to go with him.
Abishai also submitted to David. His submission is defined as “to yield oneself to the authority or will of another.” It was David’s will to go into Saul’s camp and Abishai yielded to David’s desire by choosing to go with him.
Are you a submitted person?
How do you show your submission?
Do your yield to someone else’s authority or will?
Do you present or propose your plans/aspirations to another for review, consideration, or decision?”
Prayer: Father God, help us to be submitted one to another in the ways that are needed for us to have full and effective fellowship with one another, amen.
Amen. Happy holidays
