Becoming a Guide: Helping Others on the Path

October 25, 2025

By Andrew Williams

Opening Prayer
God, you have been our guide on this journey. Now, equip us to be a guide for others who are trying to find their way.

Today’s Scripture (NLT)
Galatians 6:1
“Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.”

The final stage of our journey home is when we realize our journey is no longer just about us. God doesn’t just restore us for our own sake; He restores us so that we can become agents of restoration for others. The wisdom, grace, and compassion we received on our own journey now equip us to walk alongside others who are lost or struggling.

Notice the posture we are called to have. When we see another believer who has taken a detour (“overcome by some sin”), we are not to judge, condemn, or gossip. We are to “gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path.” Why gently and humbly? Because we remember our own detours. We know how easy it is to fall. Our own experience of grace makes us gracious toward others.

You don’t have to be a pastor or a theologian to be a guide. You just have to be willing to share your story, to listen without judgment, to pray for someone, and to point them toward the same loving Father who welcomed you home.

Disciples’ Life Tip: Is there someone in your life who seems to be on a spiritual detour? Pray for them today. Ask God for an opportunity to connect with them, not to lecture them, but to gently and humbly offer your friendship and support.

Closing Prayer: Father, thank You for the privilege of being used by You. Take our stories, our experiences, and our scars, and use them to help guide others back to the path that leads home to You. Amen.
