They arrived at the other side of the lake, at the region of the Gerasenes. As Jesus stepped ashore, a demon-possessed madman came out of the graveyard and confronted him. When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran to him and threw himself down before him, shouting at the top of his lungs, “Leave me alone, Jesus, Son of the Most High God! Swear in God’s name that you won’t torture me!” (For Jesus had already said to him, “Come out of that man, you demon spirit!”)
Mark 5:1-2, 6-8 TPT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Is your ministry successful? Are you reaching a lot of persons where you are stationed? Are you comfortable where you are at?
Has you the Lord asked you to leave something lucrative to go somewhere that is unknown to you, that is less fast-paced, that the opportunities are seemingly non-existent for ministry, or the ministry opportunities are difficult?
Are you willing to leave where you are at to go where the Lord is leading you?
Sometimes you don’t know the reason, sometimes you know that it’s going to cost you, or sometimes you can’t understand why He would ask you to give up what you have to go somewhere else or do something else.
In another devotional we saw that Jesus left the crowd to go to this side of this sea. We did not understand why He left the crowd, but now we see that He went to see this one man so that He could set him free from the devil’s torment. Jesus went through a storm, was chastised by His disciples, left a ready crowd on the other side, so that He could minister to just one man.
Are you willing to leave everything behind you just to reach one person?
Are you willing to leave your profession behind to go into Ministry?
Do you love God to the extent that you will do whatever He tells you to do?
Prayer: Father God, I will leave everything behind so that I can reach the person that You need me to. Amen
Although it seems humanly impossible, matching this passage with Luke 9:23 as disciples called by Jesus we are on call to do the will of God.
When Jesus goes, or sends, He knows the difference that ONE person can or will make. In this case….. v20 …So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.
