Simon and his companions went searching for Him. They found Him and said, “Everyone’s looking for You! ” And He said to them, “Let’s go on to the neighboring villages so that I may preach there too. This is why I have come.” So He went into all of Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.
Mark 1:36-39 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Prayer: “Lord Jesus, I enjoy hearing Your teachings. I love Your parables. I am amazed by the miracles that You perform. I’m in awe when I see You cast out demons, heal the sick, and raise the dead. I love having You around me and I love being in Your presence. Lord Jesus stay with Me, stay with us, I pray. Amen”
This is a selfish/self centered prayer that one would define as being ‘soulish’. It points to what we like and what we want. Nowhere in this prayer do we seek to know what the Lord wants and what His purpose is.
When you look at Mark 1:36-39, you will see something similar. The people are getting what they wanted from Jesus and they did not want Him to leave them. But what did Jesus know?
He knew that His purpose was to spread the gospel throughout all Israel. He was commissioned by God the Father to do this.
Jesus was obedient to God’s will for His life. He could boldly say, “Let’s go on to the neighboring villages so that I may preach there too. This is why I have come.”
Do you know your God-ordained purpose?
Are you sticking to it, and are you fulfilling it?
Prayer: Father God, thank You for showing me my purpose in Your kingdom. I WILL be like Jesus and obediently fulfill that purpose. Amen.
