James 4:9 NLT – Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy.
By Andrew Williams
Good morning, fellow disciples.
If you have sinned against God, now is it time to be contrite.
Contrite: feeling or showing sorrow and remorse for improper or objectionable behavior or actions.
You need to both feel and show remorse for the sins that you have committed against God. James says it in this way:
- Let there be tears for what you have done.
- Let there be sorrow and deep grief.
- And let there be sadness and gloom.
Fellow disciple, you can’t be walking around with laughter and joy if you are living a sinful life. You need to have some time of self-reflection and choose whether you’re going to live for God or keep living in sin.
Be contrite!
Confess your sins!
Repent!
Prayer: Father God, I am contrite! I recognize, admit, and confess my sin. I am sorrowful and in deep grief because of my behavior. With tears in my eyes, I am afraid to face You, but I know that the only way to renew my fellowship with You is to come before You in repentance.
Forgive me, Lord! Amen.
