He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
Matthew 26:39 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Petition: a request made for something desired, especially a respectful or humble request, as to a superior or to one of those in authority; a supplication or prayer.
Jesus had an agreement with Father God to save the world. However, when the time came for Him to sacrifice His life, He was feeling the pressure. He was suffering emotionally and spiritually, and the physical suffering would soon be added to it.
He came to God with a petition, not once, but three times. He begged God to remove the suffering that He was experiencing and the suffering that was to come.
What suffering are you going through?
What suffering do you see in your future?
Have you petitioned God to remove it from you, or to remove you from it?
God can take away the suffering!
However, is the suffering meant to make you stronger, or to bring salvation, healing, and deliverance to others?
Be bold like Jesus and petition God for what you want!
Prayer: Father God, I am suffering! Take this suffering away from me I pray!
Father God, I am suffering! Take this suffering away from me I pray!
Father God, I am suffering! Take this suffering away from me I pray!
However, I want your will to be done, not mine. Amen.
