So they brought [the boy] to Him, and when the spirit saw Him, at once it completely convulsed the boy, and he fell to the ground and kept rolling about, foaming [at the mouth]. And [Jesus] asked his father, How long has he had this? And he answered, From the time he was a little boy. And it has often thrown him both into fire and into water, intending to kill him. But if You can do anything, do have pity on us and help us.
Mark 9:20-22 AMPC
Good morning fellow disciples.
Are you a man or woman of God? Do you walk in the authority and power of a disciple of the Kingdom of God who is empowered by the Holy Spirit?
Do evil spirits recognize you and your authority and start manifesting when they see you? As an ambassador of God’s Kingdom, evil spirits will fear you the way they did Jesus.
Notice that Jesus continued His fact finding conversation with the boy’s father even though the evil spirit was manifesting. Jesus cared more about the boy and the father than the tantrum that the evil spirit was throwing.
We also need to recognize that persons will become scared in situations like this. Be like Jesus. Don’t lose your focus.
The cry of the boy’s father was, “But if You can do anything, do have pity on us and help us.”
Can you help those in need? Will you be focused like Jesus and tend to the needs of not only the demonized, but also their loved ones?
Prayer: Father God, there is so much to learn from this conversation that Jesus has been having. Today we see the desperation of those who have demonized relatives. Today, we see Jesus’ compassion and focus in this trying situation.
Lord, help us to be like Jesus, full of compassion, love, and fully focused on helping those in need. Lord, as we surrender to You, use us mightily like Jesus, to set captives free. Amen
