Another Healing Conversation With Jesus – Part 2

And one of the throng replied to Him, Teacher, I brought my son to You, for he has a dumb spirit. And wherever it lays hold of him [so as to make him its own], it dashes him down and convulses him, and he foams [at the mouth] and grinds his teeth, and he [falls into a motionless stupor and] is wasting away. And I asked Your disciples to drive it out, and they were not able [to do it]. And He answered them, O unbelieving generation [without any faith]! How long shall I [have to do] with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to Me.
Mark 9:17‭-‬19 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

Is there someone in your life that you can learn from? Have you failed at what you are asked to do and then your teacher arrives and then shows you how to do it?

In this detailed account we see Jesus begin a conversation with the man who approached His disciples for help. We see the description of a boy who was tormented by the devil, and the seizure-like activity that occurs when the spirit demonizes the boy.

What would you do if this was happening to your child?

What would your reaction be if the men of God that you sought help from couldn’t help him?

As the ” man of God “, how would you feel knowing that you couldn’t help to free this child?

Jesus diagnosed the situation: the boy was demonized, the disciples lacked faith, and Jesus was the only one present who could offer the “cure”.

No matter who you may identify with in this passage, whether it is: the demonized boy, the desperate father, the faithless disciples or, the faith filled teacher, there is hope. There is hope for healing and deliverance to occur. You just have to exercise your faith.

Prayer: “Bring him to Me!” That’s what you said, Lord. So, Lord Jesus, we bring all those in need to You. We know that it is Your Holy Spirit living in us and acting through us who performs the miracles.

In faith we preach, teach, pray for the sick and command demons to leave. By faith we know that You will act through our obedience to Your Word and commands. We pledge to abide in You Lord Jesus, so that Your power will flow through us to set the captives free, amen.
