A House of Fellowship- Aquila and Priscilla’s Hospitality and Leadership

July 1, 2025

By Andrew Williams

“The churches of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Prisca [Priscilla], together with the church in their house, send you hearty greetings in the Lord.” – 1 Corinthians 16:19 (ESV)

Good morning fellow disciples.

1 Corinthians 16:19 provides a snapshot of Aquila and Priscilla’s continued ministry in Ephesus. Paul, writing to the Corinthians, includes greetings from the churches in Asia and specifically mentions Aquila and Priscilla, “together with the church in their house.” This passage highlights their dedication to hospitality, their commitment to fostering community, and their leadership within the early church. Hosting a house church was an act of generosity, vulnerability, and faithful service.

As a disciple, you are called to create spaces where others can encounter the love, grace, and truth of Jesus. Aquila and Priscilla’s example reminds you that your home can be a place of ministry, a haven for those in need, and a launching pad for spreading the Gospel. You are empowered to practice hospitality, to cultivate community, and to use your resources to serve God and others.

This week, consider how you can create a more welcoming and hospitable environment in your home. Invite a friend or neighbor over for a meal, host a small group Bible study, or simply open your doors to those who need a place to belong. Be intentional about using your home to bless others and to share the love of Christ.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to be a welcoming and hospitable disciple, following the example of Aquila and Priscilla. I will open my heart and my home to those in need. Give me the wisdom to cultivate community and the generosity to use my resources to bless others. May my life be a testament to your love, your grace, and your power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
