And leaving the throng, they took Him with them, [just] as He was, in the boat [in which He was sitting]. And other boats were with Him. And a furious storm of wind [of hurricane proportions] arose, and the waves kept beating into the boat, so that it was already becoming filled. But He [Himself] was in the stern [of the boat], asleep on the [leather] cushion; and they awoke Him and said to Him, Master, do You not care that we are perishing? And He arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, Hush now! Be still (muzzled)! And the wind ceased (sank to rest as if exhausted by its beating) and there was [immediately] a great calm (a perfect peacefulness). He said to them, Why are you so timid and fearful? How is it that you have no faith (no firmly relying trust)? And they were filled with great awe and feared exceedingly and said one to another, Who then is this, that even wind and sea obey Him?
Mark 4:36-41 AMPC
Good morning fellow disciples.
What obstacles or storms are you facing in your life? How are you responding to them? Who is with you as you face these storms?
Are you worried, fearful, tentative, double-minded, or lacking in faith? Are you a disciple of Christ? Are you filled with the Holy Spirit?
In this passage we see the disciples traveling with Jesus. Jesus was with them! THEY HAD THE SON OF GOD WITH THEM! But they saw the storm and were filled with fear. Finally, they ran to Jesus for help, and Jesus calmed the storm.
Are you like the disciples who have the power and authority of God, and God’s presence with them. Is it normal for you to respond to stormy situations with fear? Do you wait until you are almost overwhelmed to call on Jesus for help?
Do you have NO faith?
Why don’t you conquer your storm by speaking to it in the power and authority that God has given you?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for showing me how to exercise my faith. I will no longer enter God’s presence filled with fear. I will speak to my situation with the power and authority that You have given me Lord.
I will come to You with praise and thanksgiving, having defeated the enemy. I am victorious because of Your Word, my testimony, and Your Holy Spirit working in and through me.
I am your disciple! I will walk in faith! I will no longer have fear filled conversations with You, my God. Amen
