Then he said to Tamar, “Now bring the food into my bedroom and feed it to me here.” So Tamar took his favorite dish to him. But as she was feeding him, he grabbed her and demanded, “Come to bed with me, my darling sister.”
2 Samuel 13:10-11 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Petition: something asked or requested, an earnest request.
Incest is wrong! Rape is wrong! Both of them are disgusting and detestable!
In this passage we see a brother requesting sexual intercourse from his sister. He petitioned her because he was physically attracted to her. Even in that society at that time, it was wrong for a brother to be with his sister in that way. That petition was disgusting!
His sister told him that and he proceeded to rape her.
Some petitions are totally disgusting.
Have you been making petitions of persons that are disgusting?
Examine your thoughts, your desires, your words, and your actions. Think about what is pure and pleasing to God, then:
1. Stop making disgusting petitions, and
2. Make petitions that with honor God and others.
Prayer: Father God, today I will examine my thoughts, desires, words and actions. If I have been making ungodly petitions to You or others, I will now stop doing so. I ask You to forgive me. I will also seek forgiveness from those who I have made disgusting petitions of.
From this moment onwards I will make petitions that honor You and others. Amen.
