A Conversation with Jesus That was Meant To Entrap Him Part 3

Should we pay [them] or should we not pay [them]? But knowing their hypocrisy, He asked them, Why do you put Me to the test? Bring Me a coin (a denarius), so I may see it.
Mark 12:15 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

Sometimes we know that persons are being hypocritical when they are having conversations with us.

Sometimes we play along as if we don’t realize their motives. Sometimes we answer questions in such a way, or speak in such a way that they don’t realize that we know they are being hypocritical.

Sometimes we choose to get out of the conversation so that we reduce the risk of falling into their trap.

But what did Jesus do?

He made it clear that He knew their motive. The verse says: “But knowing their hypocrisy, He asked them, Why do you put Me to the test? “

Not only did He know of their hypocrisy, He said it plainly to them, “Why do you put Me to the test?”

Are you discerning enough to recognize the hypocrisy in the conversations that you have?

Are you bold enough to call out the hypocrisy in your conversations?

Be like Jesus:
Recognize people’s motives!
See the trap!
Tell them that you know it’s a trap!
Then use Godly wisdom to not only avoid the trap, but to demolish it completely!
