A Conversation With Jesus About The Greatest Commandment Part 1

Then one of the scribes came up and listened to them disputing with one another, and, noticing that Jesus answered them fitly and admirably, he asked Him, Which commandment is first and most important of all [in its nature]?
Mark 12:28 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

When we speak in public, sometimes we don’t realize who is listening to us. Sometimes we don’t see the impact we have on others until they speak to us.

Jesus had just finished having a conversation with some Sadducees. Among those listening to this conversation was a scribe. He noticed Jesus’ demeanor, His tactful answers, and His faithfulness to scripture. He must have been impressed with the young Rabbi.

He went on to ask Jesus, “Which commandment is first and most important of all [in its nature]?” We will see Jesus’ response as this series progresses.

Let us reflect.

When you are observed by bystanders, are they impressed by your demeanor, your tactful answers, and your faithfulness to scripture?

Are they so impressed with you that they will seek to have a conversation with you and ask your opinion on important matters?

Do they avoid you because you have nothing substantial to offer in terms of revelation knowledge or wisdom, from a Kingdom of God perspective?

Are you impacting your fellow disciples and bystanders because of your fellowship and relationship with God?

Prayer: Father God, I want to be like Jesus. I will seek You with all my heart until I find perfect fellowship with You. Help me to represent You empowered by Your Holy Spirit so that others will come to know Your Truth. Amen.
