Now learn a lesson from the fig tree: as soon as its branch becomes tender and it puts forth its leaves, you recognize and know that summer is near. So also, when you see these things happening, you may recognize and know that He is near, at [the very] door.

Good morning fellow disciples.

From the beginning of this series, Jesus has been telling His disciples about the signs of the times.

He now continues by teaching them a lesson from the fig tree saying: “as soon as its branch becomes tender and it puts forth its leaves, you recognize and know that summer is near.”

In like manner He is telling us that when we see the signs that He has mentioned, He is right at the door, He is very near.

His return is very near!

Are you like these disciples who need to hear so many different stories for you to understand what Jesus’ prophesies really mean?

Jesus has a way of telling one story after another after another to make His point clear.

Is the point clear to you?

Jesus says we need to know the signs of His return. Jesus gave us clear signs of His return. Let us look at them, let us understand them, let us know them, and let us see whether these things are happening or not.

Let us in all aspects be warned, because He has given us foresight and foreknowledge into the future.

This morning I just want us to understand that we are His chosen ones, we are His friends, and He has revealed this to us because we are His!

Let us not be complacent. Let us not be procrastinators.

Let us step out in confidence knowing that we are the ones who will teach the rest of the generations what it truly means to be looking forward to Christ’s return.

In the meantime, let us live our lives pleasing to Him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we thank You for Your repeated explanation of the signs of the times. We thank You for showing us that even when you explain something very straightforwardly, we may not understand it. Thank You for telling simple stories for us to cement Your principles and teachings in our minds.

Father God, thank You for sending Your Son. Thank You for making Him a prophet who could tell us about the end times before it happens. Thank You for calling us Your friends and sharing with us what we need to know before the appointed time. Amen.
