And as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple [enclosure], Peter and James and John and Andrew asked Him privately, Tell us when is this to take place and what will be the sign when these things, all [of them], are about to be accomplished?
Mark 13:3-4 AMPC
Good morning fellow disciples.
Jesus had just told His disciples that the temple would be destroyed. His disciples now wanted to find out when the temple would be destroyed.
It was obvious that His disciples not only saw Him as a teacher, Messiah, healer, and deliverer, but also as a prophet.
Do you see Jesus as a prophet also?
Even though “prophet” wasn’t the primary designation that described Jesus and His ministry here on Earth, many persons recognized Him as a prophet.
A prophet is:
1. one who utters divinely inspired revelations,
2. one gifted with more than ordinary spiritual and moral insight,
3. one who foretells future events,
4. an effective or leading spokesman for a cause, doctrine, or group, and
5. a person regarded as an inspired teacher or proclaimer of the will of God.
All these are true of Jesus!
It is only natural then for His disciples to ask: “Tell us when is this to take place and what will be the sign when these things, all [of them], are about to be accomplished?”
Do you ask the Son of God to clarify, explain and, to give you further revelation about what He has said?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are my savior! I also recognize You as the greatest prophet. Continue to reveal and explain God’s teachings to me through Your Holy Spirit who lives in me. Amen
May we acknowledge Jesus as our Prophet, Priest and King.
