A Conversation With Jesus About Divorce Part 1

And some Pharisees came up, and, in order to test Him and try to find a weakness in Him, asked, Is it lawful for a man to dismiss and repudiate and divorce his wife?
Mark 10:2 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

As a disciple of Christ do you find yourself in situations where people come to you and ask you questions? Do you ever wonder what their motives for asking these questions are?

As we begin this conversation on divorce we see that the persons who came to Jesus came with the intention of trying to find a weakness in Him. They wanted evidence so that they could keep Him from fulfilling His God assigned tasks. If they tried this with Jesus, they will try to do it to you also.

Be careful when you are confronted and questioned by persons. They don’t always want to get revelation through your answers. Sometimes they just want to trap you so that they can exploit you or tear you down.

Fear not! If you know the Word of God, if you are applying the Word of God to your life, and if you are faithfully proclaiming the Word of God, then you can fearlessly answer their questions.

This is what Jesus did! They could find no fault in him! As a disciple of Christ who is fully empowered by the Holy Spirit they can never truthfully find fault in your answers if you faithfully do and say what the Holy Spirit places in your heart.

As we go through this series, we will see how Jesus dealt with this situation. He knew the motives of the persons asking the question, but He gave them Godly revelation by answering their question.

What was the question: “Is it lawful for a man to dismiss and repudiate and divorce his wife?”

Prayer: Father God, we thank You for Your Word, we thank You for Your instructions, and we thank You for Your son who has shown us time and time again how to deal with different situations. Help us not to get distracted by the motives of persons.

Help us to use every opportunity to bring Your revelation knowledge to them and others, as they seek clarity on the things of Your Kingdom. Teach us through this conversation on divorce how to be better ambassadors for your kingdom, I pray. Amen
