And as He was setting out on His journey, a man ran up and knelt before Him and asked Him, Teacher, [You are essentially and perfectly morally] good, what must I do to inherit eternal life [that is, to partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]? And Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me [essentially and perfectly morally] good? There is no one [essentially and perfectly morally] good–except God alone.
Mark 10:17-18 AMPC
Good morning fellow disciples.
Did you grow up in church or are you now an ardent church member but you are still wondering if you will partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah’s Kingdom?
Many of us grow up living by the rules: living by the rules of our households, living by the rules of society, and living by the rules of our religious system. Many of us churchgoers try to live by the commands, the precepts, the principles and, the doctrines that we see in the Bible.
However, for many of us we find that something is lacking. Despite living by the rules we realize that we really don’t have that deep abiding relationship and fellowship with God. We are searching for what we know is missing, but sometimes we can’t find what we are looking for because the persons who seek answers from can’t help us.
The man in the story came to Jesus because he saw something different about Jesus. He could see and sense Jesus’ relationship with God Almighty. He probably heard Jesus’ preaching and teaching, and realized that Jesus could answer the question that he desired so much to have answered.
“What must I do to inherit eternal life [that is, to partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]?”
Are you seeking to spend eternal life in the Messiah’s Kingdom?
Be like this man and go to Jesus to get the answer. It’s not hard as it sounds. Jesus’ teaching is found in the Bible, His faithful disciples can teach you and answer your questions and, for those of us who accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, His Holy Spirit lives within us and He will reveal to us all that we need to know.
Prayer: Father God, we know that if we believe in our hearts that Jesus Christ is Your Son who came from heaven, who preached the gospel, died for our sins, is resurrected, is now in heaven with You, and if we confess Him as Lord and Savior with our mouths, we are saved. We have eternal life!
Knowing this and doing this is sometimes difficult for many of us because we don’t want to give up our lives to submit to Your Kingdom rule. As we seek to be a part of Your Kingdom we will start our conversation with You and hear what You truly need from us. As we converse with You may we humble ourselves and accept Your terms and conditions so that we can have life eternal in Your Kingdom. Amen
