You know the commandments: Do not kill, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not defraud, honor your father and mother. [Exod. 20:12-16; Deut. 5:16-20.] And he replied to Him, Teacher, I have carefully guarded and observed all these and taken care not to violate them from my boyhood.

Good morning fellow disciples.
” What must I do to inherit eternal life [that is, to partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]? “
Jesus basically asked him if he knew the commandments that were given through Moses. The young man said that he has been living according to these from he was a child. If this could have given him eternal life, why then did he come to Jesus asking this question?
Keeping all the rules will make you someone who lives morally. Keeping all the commands/rules will not give you eternal life. However, the commands/rules are made to place us on the path to really seek to know God more.
Have you been truly seeking to know God and to become a part of His Kingdom?
Are you following and obeying God and the commands/rules of His Kingdom?
If you are not, start obeying in His commands!
If you are, keep on obeying His commands!
Prayer: Father God, as we look through Your Word we see Your many commands, rules, precepts and life principles that You want us to live by. We continue to get revelation, teaching, and direction from Your Holy Spirit as to how to live our lives faithful to Your commands.
Help us to carefully guard and observe all Your commands and take care not to violate them. Help us to seek to know You more as we faithfully obey You.
