Series: The Year of the Prophet- Month 10: The New Testament Prophet & Christ
Week 39: Jesus, The Ultimate Prophet
Anchor Scripture: “…and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth… and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” — Revelation 1:5–6 (NKJV)
The Teaching
In the Old Testament, the offices of Prophet, Priest, and King were strictly separated. A prophet who tried to act as a king (like Samuel trying to lead the army) or a king who tried to act as a priest (like Uzziah offering incense) usually met with divine correction. However, Jesus, the Ultimate Prophet, came to merge these offices into one. He is the Prophet who speaks, the Priest who intercedes, and the King who rules.
Because you are “in Christ,” your prophetic office carries a Kingly Dimension. This is the “governmental” side of the prophetic. In the New Covenant, the Prophet is not just a “messenger” delivering a letter; you are an Authorized Administrator of the King’s will. You share in the “dominion” of the One who sits on the Throne.
Understanding divine authority means realizing that your words have Legal Standing in the spirit realm. When you speak a prophetic word authorized by Jesus, you aren’t just sharing a “thought”; you are issuing a Kingly Decree. You are legislating. You have the authority to “bind and loose,” to “set in order,” and to “overturn” the works of the enemy. A New Testament prophet doesn’t just describe what is happening; they govern what will happen by aligning the earth with the decrees of the High Council.
Prophetic Insight
Maturity in the office is moving from the “Servant’s Plea” to the “King’s Command.” Many prophets spend their lives “begging” God to move, but the Kingly Prophet realizes that God has already moved and is now waiting for His authorized representative to Command the Atmosphere. If you only view yourself as a “visitor” to the Throne, you will speak with a “weak” voice. But if you view yourself as a “Son/Daughter-King” who has been given the keys to the city, you will speak with Weight. You don’t have to shout to have authority; you just have to know who backs your word. However, kingly authority is only safe in the hands of those who are totally submitted to the King of Kings. Your rule is only valid as long as you are being ruled by Him.
The Activation
Identify an area of “Chaos” or “Unauthorized Activity” in your sphere—perhaps a spirit of strife in your family or a spirit of stagnation in your business. Today, Exercise Kingly Authority. Stop “asking” God to fix it. Instead, stand on your feet and say: “In the Name of Jesus, I exercise my kingly authority over this situation! I decree Divine Order! I command the spirit of [Name] to cease and desist! I declare that the Government of Peace is now established here!”
Daily Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank You that You have made me a king and a priest to God. I ask for the grace to operate in Your divine authority today. Forgive me for being passive or for speaking from a position of fear. I choose today to speak with Your weight and Your dominion. Let my prophetic voice govern the atmospheres around me. I am Your authorized messenger, and I decree Your Kingdom come. Amen.
