Week 23: The Issachar Anointing (Times & Seasons)
Anchor Scripture: “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” — John 9:4 (NKJV)
The Teaching
Yesterday, we spoke about the discipline of Patience—refusing to move before the signal. But the Issachar anointing has a second, equally important side: Prophetic Urgency. If patience is knowing when to stand still, urgency is knowing when to sprint. The Watchman must discern not only when a door is opening, but also when that door is beginning to close.
In the Kingdom of God, opportunity is not a permanent state; it is a seasonal window. Jesus lived with a profound sense of the “Day.” He understood that there was a specific window of time allotted for His earthly work, and that “the night” (the end of that specific opportunity) was inevitable.
The Watchman senses the Expiration Date on a move of God. You feel when a season of “easy harvest” is about to end, or when a specific window for repentance in a city is closing. Urgency is the spiritual weight that says, “If we don’t act now, we will miss this visitation entirely.” While others are saying, “We have plenty of time,” the Prophet-Watchman is the one who sees the shadows lengthening and sounds the alarm to work while it is yet day.
Prophetic Insight
Prophetic urgency is often mistaken for “anxiety” or “pressure.” But there is a distinct difference. Anxiety is a frantic energy born out of fear; urgency is a focused intensity born out of Awareness. If you find yourself feeling a sudden “heaviness” to finish a task, or a burning need to deliver a word today rather than tomorrow, do not ignore it. Some words are “perishable”—they are designed for a specific moment and lose their power if held too long. To be a mature watchman, you must be as quick to obey the “Now” as you are faithful to endure the “Wait.” When the Spirit says “Run,” any delay is a form of disobedience.
The Activation
Identify a “Delayed Instruction”—something God told you to do weeks or months ago that you have been putting off. Today, look at that task through the lens of the “Closing Door.” Ask the Holy Spirit: “Lord, is the window still open for this? Is the night coming?” If you feel that holy urgency, drop your excuses and complete that task before the sun sets today.
Daily Prayer: Lord God, I thank You that You are the Lord of the Harvest. I ask for the grace of prophetic urgency today. Forgive me for my procrastination and my ‘tomorrow’ mindset. Help me to recognize the windows of opportunity You open and to discern when they are about to close. Give me the strength to work while it is day. I choose to be a watchman who moves with the speed of Your Spirit. Amen.
